
Agriculture and Agro-based Industries Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the outcome of his racist Facebook post will be decided by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib. – The Malaysian Insider file pic, February 4, 2015.Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob has decided to impose a gag order on himself to make way for Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak to issue a statement on the Facebook post he wrote calling for Malays to boycott Chinese businesses .The agriculture and agro-based industries minister said Najib will make an announcement on it after a Cabinet meeting this afternoon."I cannot comment on the issue for the time being because the PM is discussing it with the Cabinet and getting their views. He will call me up this afternoon."Whatever has been discussed in the meeting will be announced by the PM. I will not give any statement about it," he told reporters in Putrajaya today.Meanwhile, on death threats he received since he made the statement on Facebook, Ismail said: "What can I say, there are people who like you and others who don't. That's pretty normal."We have laws in this country. If someone is being threatened, police will take action. I did not make an open statement. I was merely replying on Facebook and it went viral," he said.Ismail was slammed by many quarters since Sunday for his racially-tinged comments in urging Malays to boycott Chinese businesses as part of a call for traders to lower prices of goods.He later clarified that his statement was not directed at all Chinese but only those entrepreneurs who refused to reduce their prices. – February 4, 2015.
