Rosmah wants parents to teach children how to save money – Bernama


Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor is patron of the Permata Negara programme for gifted children. – The Malaysian Insider pic, January 12, 2015.The Prime Minister's wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor has advised parents to continue saving money so that their children can follow their good example.She said it is an effective way to educate the children in financial management and the skill should be emphasised by parents to ensure financial stability."Continuous education in investment is very important as it has many benefits," she said when launching the Amanah Saham Bumiputera 2 (ASB2) programme for Anak-anak Permata Negara, in Putrajaya today.Rosmah, who is also patron of the Permata Negara programme, said the people have managed to allocate some of their income for savings for future needs."The people's practice of saving, particularly via investment in unit trusts, means that they also contribute to increase national savings."She said investing in unit trust is an effective mechanism to distribute the country's economic wealth evenly."It is also an attractive investment instrument which offers returns that commensurate with the risk. We must not fear as the investment in unit trust shares is managed by professional managers."Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB) and Amanah Saham Nasional Berhad (ASNB) have agreed to provide the ASB2 platform to Permata Negara children by channeling investment of RM100 or 100 units to each child."This means that the total contribution by PNB amounted to RM1.6 million which will be utilised by 15,492 Permata children," said Rosmah.They include children from Pusat Anak Permata Negara, Permata Kemas, Permata Perpaduan dan Integrasi Nasional, Taska Yayasan Pembangunan Keluarga Terengganu and Taska Tempat Kerja. – Bernama, January 12, 2015.
